Summer is just around the corner and I’ve been bitten by the travel bug big time! A drive up the coast, a trip to the mountains: wherever it is, I’ll take it! Nothing says summer time like a good ol’ road trip and with these tips it will be all smooth sailing (or driving)!
10 Tips for Awesome Road Trips
1. Prep your vehicle
It’s always a good idea to have your car serviced before you head out on the road. Get an oil change, have your wiper blades replaced and check your tire pressure too!
2. Sign up for roadside assistance
Hopefully you won’t need it, but it’s nice to have just in case!
3. Don’t set a strict schedule
Unless you are road-tripping to a specific event and need to make it on time, let the road guide you. Have a general idea of where you might be stopping for meals and lodging (especially if you’ve got kids to keep on a schedule), but feel free to mix things up as you go!
4. Make lots of stops
“World’s largest rubber band ball”? “Best ham sandwich in Texas”? When you see a billboard advertising one of these weird attractions, stop!
5. Fuel up
Not just the car, but you! Prepping snacks ahead of time in Ziploc® brand bags makes it easy to distribute food amongst the car. Plus, everyone has their own, so no fighting over the snacks! Grab a box of these fun Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War themed Ziploc® brand Sandwich Bags at Walmart before you leave and make everyone happy!
6. Have some change for tolls
Just in case you find yourself on a toll road (even if you didn’t mean to!), have some quarters ready!
7. Know how to fix a flat
It won’t hurt to brush up on your tire-changing skills, just in case!
8. Create a playlist
Awesome road trips require great music! Let all the passengers pick a favorite song or two to add!
9. Ask the locals where to eat
Once you pull into town, stop at a local establishment – a grocery store or gas station and ask the locals where to eat, they’ll have the best recommendations!
10. Know the road
Save time (and gas) by planning your visits at non-peak traffic times. Try heading into the city in the evening (when everyone is headed home from work) and leave in the mornings. No traffic jams for you!

With three kids, we love taking road trips. Have been doing it since the kids were little and now they're teenagers... and still like taking road trips with us.
