Let’s be honest, we could all use a little bit of a treat right now. Myself, I’m eyeing shoes I have no place to wear and dresses that are pretty impractical for my current work-from-home/stay-at-home mom lifestyle. Still, the occasional gift to myself works its way into my shopping cart(s).

Kids could probably also use a treat. Between a school year that ended in a flash, spending more time at home than we’d all like, and now having to navigate a new season with interrupted schedules and plans that can change overnight, kids are probably just as tired and overwhelmed as we all are.

I just discovered Bookroo, a fun book club for kids, ages 0-10. I can’t think of a better way to give kids a little bit of encouragement right now!

Bookroo subscription

How does the Bookroo Book Club work?

As far as subscription boxes go, the Bookroo subscription is one of the more simpler programs I’ve seen. All you need to do is:

  1. Pick a book club. The Board Book Club is for ages 0-3, the Picture Book Club is for kids 3-6, and the Chapter Book Club is for kids 7-10.
  2. Receive your monthly deliveries. They’re individually wrapped and everything!
  3. Read!

The Board Book Club comes with three books a month while the other clubs include two books each. You’ll save up to 50% off the retail value with the subscription and the books are curated by their in-house experts, librarians, parents and kids.

What we tried:

I opted to try the Picture Book Club for my soon-to-be three year old and he was thrilled to get his hands on some new books. (We’ve re-read every book we own dozens and dozens of times!)

As we’ve just started moving mostly away from board books and into picture books, I was definitely not familiar with either of these titles. BUT, if we had happened to own one already you can let them know and they’ll issue you a credit on your next month’s order. They do say it’s unlikely people have the books they send because they like to find “hidden gems”, so that’s pretty fun, and great way to find new authors you and your kids like!

Don’t need books every month? You can also choose an every-other-month plan or just cancel at anytime. (Though once the books start rolling in I imagine you won’t want to.)

Bookroo Subscription for Kids

I think this is a sweet little treat for kids and wish I had had this when my son was a baby, as new board books delivered to my door each month would have been a fun treat for both of us. (Ooh, baby shower gift idea!)

Have you tried Bookroo? You can sign up with code KEEPCALM to take 20% off your first order, but only until October 1st.
