When we first moved into our house, the guest room was not my favorite. Since it was going to be transformed into a nursery for our first baby, we got busy with a makeover!
I was not a fan of this look, personally, so painting was going to be a big part of the project. Our little room also did not have a lot of space for a dresser and/or changing table, so this closet had to somehow double as both. I called in a favor from my handy grandpa, and he made a built-in (and removable) changing table (shown here, unpainted), and an additional upper shelf for even more storage.
When it was time to paint, we went bright!
Walls = Valspar “Awakening” in eggshel
Ceiling = Valspar “Afternoon Delight” in eggshell
We took off the accordion doors to the closet, and painted the closet walls “Afternoon Delight”, same as the ceiling.
Our bedding, rug, and mobile was from IKEA (no longer carried), and became the theme. My husband painted the same animals on the walls to coordinate; crib was from Walmart.
We purchased one of these chairs from IKEA, as well, so that guests would also have a place to sleep.
A gliding rocker and ottoman passed down from my sister-in-law, a storage cube from IKEA, and two ultrasounds pics (later to be changed out with baby pics) finished off the room.
We love color, and we loved how it turned out! What do you think?
