As a self-proclaimed foodie, someone who really enjoys eating out, and a great meal, I would like to share with you my eating guide to Oklahoma City. I always research the restaurants when I am traveling so I don’t waste a meal on mediocre food. So if you find yourself in the area I want to make sure you have something delicious to eat! These are some of the best restaurants in OKC!
Best Restaurants in OKC
Empire Slice is one of the best pizza joints in Oklahoma in the Plaza district. Serving a New York-style pizza with large slices, Empire has something for everyone. You can either order the pizza by the slice or the whole pie. No matter if you want something original like the “The Midnight Cowboy” which has mozzarella, cheddar, feta, brisket, roasted poblano, red onion and BBQ, or traditional cheese or pepperoni, Empire Slice has you covered and you will leave incredibly full!
Burgers are a passion subject for any foodie. We all have our own burger preference, and for me, The Garage wins. It is a local chain so there are many to choose from and the service is quick. You will always get a good juicy burger and they have tons of different options and toppings and sides. I also recommend their tacos!
You know it’s a good steak restaurant when men in cowboy hats, cowboy boots and large belt buckles show up. They all come here for a good reason, the steaks are fantastic! They are all 100% USDA Certified Prime tenderloins, strips and rib-eyes. I personally love the rib-eye with truffle compound butter topping. So good! But the meats here are so juicy that you honestly don’t even need a topping. The Ranch Steakhouse is a little pricey but it’s well worth it. You will not leave disappointed!
I cannot say enough about how delicious the fried chicken is at Eischen’s. Located about 45 minutes outside Oklahoma City in the small town of Okarche, the fried chicken is the best fried chicken I have ever had, hands down. There are no plates here, only sheets of wax paper to eat off of and only plastic forks. When you order your chicken you are ordering an entire chicken, so be ready to share. Your other menu options are a beef sandwich, chili, nachos, Frito pie and fried okra. All are delicious and I love the fried okra. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! You will be hard pressed to find any better fried chicken!
For some of the best BBQ in Oklahoma head to Texlahoma. The BBQ is smoked fresh daily. On Monday you can only get burgers and ribs so plan accordingly. My favorite item on the menu is the chopped brisket. It is so full of flavor. The ribs are great too and fall right off the bone! Their homemade BBQ sauces in either original or spicy are also fabulous, but the brisket is so amazing you probably don’t even need it. The fried okra and potato salad are also fantastic. Make sure you add this one to the list!
West serves a delicious dinner menu but I love their lunch and brunch menu. I highly recommend their biscuits and gravy since the gravy is so yummy! Their sandwiches and burgers are also unique and all so good!
I cannot say enough good things about The Mule. The Mule is a small joint in the Plaza district known for their hot melts. (Basically fancy grilled cheese sandwiches.) These are not the grilled cheeses you grew up with! My personal favorite is the Fancy Pants (roasted chicken, Brie, pesto, etc.). I also love their fried cheese curds, beer batter fries, and onion rings. You can’t go wrong with anything you choose at The Mule.
Picasso Café in the Paseo district is a wonderful restaurant with a ton of original pizzas, sandwiches, and entrees, plus a whole vegetarian section. Try their mac and cheese, homemade pizza, or chicken and avocado sandwich, but honestly you won’t regret anything you get at Picasso Café.
