I think we’ve established that I enjoy reading about British people having secret drama in big houses. Downton Abbey is over and you need to read about people making bad choices with a very polite accent. Look no further than Australian author Kate Morton. She writes page-turning historical fiction about family secrets with beautiful backdrops.
A really pleasant surprise about Morton is that each book of hers has been better than the last which is not always the case. Her most recent book The Secret Keeper, set during World War II was hands down my favorite.
If you like your British melodrama a little gothic and spooky with a solid dash of mystery thrown in, then Kate Morton is the author for you.
