How many things are you saving for a “special occasion”? I’m definitely guilty of this. Whether it’s a special outfit, price-y beauty products, or your favorite shoes, what are we really waiting for?
I’m trying to be more “in the moment” these days, and stop worrying so much about the future or always being so “responsible”. So, I’m pulling out my favorite shoes, ripping the price tags off those dresses I’ve been saving for something special, and using the expensive beauty products lined up in my bathroom!
I received this hair care set in a subscription box a while back. The set cost $40 and is normally something that would have set untouched for months, if not, forever, because I didn’t want to just waste it. I mean, not using it is wasting it, right? And just because my normal shampoo only runs me about $6, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t take advantage of a bottle or two that costs a bit more. So, I used it. And I loved it! My hair felt extra silky, extra soft, and since I thought I’d save it for a “special” day, that day became a special day.
Same with this Kate Spade wallet:
I bought it on major sale sooooo long ago. For real, I just checked my email to see when I ordered. October of 2013. 2013! It was just so perfect I was afraid to use it. And since it made more sense (ha!) for it to sit hidden in my closet (instead of actually using it), that’s what I did. Until yesterday. Yesterday I pulled it out, transferred my stuff over and stuck it in my purse. And guess what? While it didn’t immediately become stained or torn, at some point, it probably will. Because it’s STUFF. And stuff happens to stuff. So until the day the wallet is damaged beyond use, I’m going to carry it, and I’m going to love it!
My challenge to you is this: find one item, whether clothing, jewelry, perfume, makeup, or another beauty product you’ve been saving and USE it. In fact, tell me what you’re going to use/wear/carry, I want to know!!
