DIY: Dresser to TV Stand

Love this? Share it!

Through a series of events, we had a TV sitting on a coffee table. It really didn’t look right plus I could see all the cords on the floor (not really a major problem, just a pet peeve). Guess what…another Pinterest idea! And this DIY TV stand is a project that can be done on budget!

So onto Facebook I went and found a cheap, well-made 7 drawer (three small drawers on the top and four large on the bottom) dresser on a garage sale group page.

Next I picked up some paint, wood putty, and sand paper at my local home improvement store and enlisted the help of my super crafty sister-in-law. The project went by much faster with two people, especially with one of us knowing what to do (not me).

We sanded, put wood putty in the old handle holes, and painted the entire thing with a tan base coat. Next, we lightly painted/dry brushed the entire thing with white paint. This gave it a worn vintage look.

After letting it dry we installed two turquoise cross drawer pulls on the top outside drawers. We took the middle drawer out so it could hold the cable box and DVD player. It took us all of four hours. Included in the four hours was a decent lunch break and a couple of breaks to wait for the paint to dry.

So if you aren’t a super crafty person, no worries! There are still plenty of projects to do that aren’t too difficult and look great once they are done. Plus, then you can say that YOU made it, not bought it.

I absolutely love this! I love the extra storage space that it offers. Way better than our current tv stand that just has two small cabinets! Thanks for sharing!! :)
