Podcast Recommendation: The Way I Heard It

You might remember Mike Rowe from the TV show Dirty Jobs, where he worked jobs along people that weren’t afraid to get dirty in their line of work. What you might not know is that Mike is a talented writer and story teller and he uses these talents in his new podcast called The Way I Heard It. Every week Mike writes a historical short story based on a person, place, or thing and the story is no longer than about 10 minutes. The shows tag line is “stories for a curious mind with a short attention span”. Many of the stories are ideas that his fans pitch him on his Facebook page. Mike then researches that suggested person’s history and writes a short story that is not only factual but entertaining as well! But Mike doesn’t just come right out and tell you who he is talking about. He tells the story in a way that makes you try to guess who he is referring to the entire time and by doing so draws you in even more.

The Way I Heard IT podcast by Mike Rowe review - Splendry

Today I listened to a story called “A Very High Bar” and had no idea who is was talking about until the very end. In this story, Mike talks about a man who won multiple gold medals all while wearing shoes he found in the garbage can and to top it off, it’s all entirely true!  You’ll have to listen to the podcast to find out who he was talking about. Every story is so fascinating, plus, you can listen to a full story in a short amount of time so you never have to stop before you find out what happens. The next time you are in the car or just around the house and want to listen to something that you will not only enjoy but you can learn from, listen to The Way I Heard It and you will be glad you did!
