Calling all peanut butter fiends! I have a fantastic recipe for peanut butter blondies you won’t want to share. It’s that good. And there’s more great news: you probably already have everything you need in your fridge and pantry to create this deliciously decadent treat.
I have had this recipe for so many years and have tweaked it so many times, I don’t even remember the original source. I’ve added everything but the kitchen sink at one time or another, and this version, with its addition of dark chocolate chips (why not?), Reese’s Pieces, and brown sugar is my favorite to date.
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup margarine or butter
- ¾ cup Crisco (and 7 tsp. Water)
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)
- 2 cups flour (whole wheat or white)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
- ½ cup peanut butter chips or Reese’s Pieces
The ingredients! You can be creative with add-ins. I threw in some leftover Reese’s Pieces in this batch (because you can’t have too much peanut butter).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and mix the butter/margarine, Crisco, and sugar. As you can see, little hands can help out here!
Add the eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and peanut butter until well-combined.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder, and then stir it into the peanut butter mixture. Next, fold in the mix-ins! We poured in a ½ cup of dark chocolate chips and a ½ cup of Reese’s Pieces.
Pour the mixture into a square baking pan. We used a 9 x 9 inch pan sprayed with Pam. Is it just me or does it already look delicious? Bake for 25-30 minutes.
The finished product. For extra credit, serve warm with vanilla ice cream!
