3 Ingredient Mug Cake Recipe

Love this? Share it!

You’ve probably seen your share of recipes for a mug cake. Maybe even tried a few? Look no more, because this is the BEST recipe we’ve found!

I’ve tried my hand at different mug cake or dessert recipes in the past with little success. They were always dry, undercooked or overcooked, and just plain not good! So when I finally stumbled upon a mug cake recipe that only had two ingredients (plus a little water), took only one minute in the microwave, and actually tasted like cake from the oven, I had to share it!

Mug Cake Ingredients

  • 1 Angel Food Cake Mix
  • 1 Cake Mix (any flavor)
  • 2 T water

I went with a chocolate cake mix but I’m thinking lemon or strawberry will be next!

Mug Cake Recipe Ingredients

1. Mix your two cake mixes together in a large bowl.

Now you can store your cake mix mixture in an airtight container for more cakes whenever you want!

2. Take 1/3 C. of the mixture and add to a mug. Add 2 Tbsp. water and stir.

At this point you could add in some extras if you’d like! I threw in a few chocolate chips and stirred to combine!

3. Microwave for 1 minute.

This mug cake didn’t even compare to any others I had made before! Apparently the secret is the angel food cake mix! (I think it’s because it has dried egg in it.) My cake was delicious with the added chocolate chips but I’m thinking some sliced strawberries and whipped cream on top would be excellent too!

If a single serving of cake is what you need, this is the recipe to try! And now that you’ve perfected the microwaveable cake, try one of these other easy and delicious mug desserts! (Cookies, brownies, muffins, and more!)

Enjoy! Need another small-serving dessert? How about cupcakes for two?
