3 Ingredient Mug Cake Recipe

Love this? Share it!

You’ve probably seen your share of recipes for a mug cake. Maybe even tried a few? I’ve tried my hand at these in the past with little success. They were always dry, undercooked or overcooked, and just plain not good! So when I finally stumbled upon a mug cake recipe that only had two ingredients (plus a little water), took only one minute in the microwave, and actually tasted like cake, I had to share it!

  • 1 Angel Food Cake Mix
  • 1 Cake Mix (any flavor)
  • 2 T water

I went with a chocolate cake mix but I’m thinking lemon or strawberry will be next!

1. Mix your two cake mixes together in a large bowl.

Now you can store your cake mix mixture in an airtight container for mug cakes whenever you want!

2. Take 1/3 C. of the mixture and add to a mug. Add 2 Tbsp. water and stir.

At this point you could add in some extras if you’d like! I threw in a few chocolate chips:

3. Microwave for 1 minute.

This mug cake didn’t even compare to any others I had made before! Apparently the secret is the angel food cake mix! (I think it’s because it has dried egg in it.) My mug cake was delicious with the added chocolate chips but I’m thinking some sliced strawberries and whipped cream on top would be excellent too!

If a single serving of cake is what you need, this is the recipe to try!
