You know what you are getting when you pick up a Kate Morton book. There will be a beautiful house, a mystery and lots of atmosphere. Morton’s new novel, The Lake House, is no exception. Set in Cornwall in the early 1930s, The Lake House tells the story of the Edevane family; whose seemingly idyllic life was destroyed when the youngest child of the family vanished into thin air. Seventy years later Sadie Sparrow, a London police officer on time out for bad behavior, decides to try and solve the mystery.
I really enjoyed this book, I guessed the ending early, but it didn’t make it less of a good read. It’s fun to see how the dots will get connected. I loved the storyline of the eldest Edevane sister becoming something of an Agatha Christie style author while dealing with a real life family mystery in her past.
By the way if you like her books you should be following Kate Morton on Instagram. She posts pics that are straight out of the settings of her novels!
