How to Make Valentine’s Day Chocolate Covered Strawberries

  1. Start by washing and drying the strawberries thoroughly with a paper towel. It’s essential to have them completely dry to ensure the chocolate adheres well. strawberries in a bowl

  3. If you want to add a pop of color, divide the melted white chocolate into smaller bowls and tint each with a few drops of pink or red food coloring.
  4. Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip strawberries into the melted chocolate*, ensuring an even coating. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
  5. Place the dipped strawberries on wax paper or a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. chocolate-dipped strawberries on a tray

  7. For an extra touch, use a toothpick or bamboo skewer to create swirls or patterns with the different colored chocolates. Another option would be to fill a small pastry bag or storage bag with the melted chocolate. Snip a corner with scissors and squeeze.chocolate-dipped strawberry
  8. Once decorated, refrigerate the strawberries for at least 30 minutes or until the chocolate hardens. You can serve chilled or at room temperature.

* Have some leftover chocolate? Grab some pretzels and dip them into your remaining melted chocolate. These sweet and salty snacks are perfect to serve along side your strawberries!

  1. Classic Elegance:Stick to the timeless combination of white chocolate and milk chocolate for a classic and elegant look.
  2. Romantic Red Velvet:Mix a bit of red food coloring into the white chocolate for a red velvet-inspired coating. Top with white chocolate drizzle.
  3. Decadent Dark Chocolate:For dark chocolate lovers, substitute dark chocolate chips for the milk chocolate and create a rich, indulgent flavor.

Other variations you could try? The type of chocolate (or non-chocolate) you use! Using semi-sweet chocolate chips, almond bark, white chocolate melts or even bright pink chocolate melts sold in stores. My personal opinion? Good quality chocolate is a must, and the Guittard brand is my favorite! Really, the best chocolate chips I’ve tried!

These chocolate-covered strawberries are best enjoyed fresh, but if you need to store them, you can follow a few guidelines to maintain their quality:

Short-Term Storage:If you’ve made the strawberries in advance and plan to enjoy them within 24-48 hours, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If you have more than a single layer, make sure to place a layer of parchment paper between the strawberries to prevent them from sticking together. Keep in mind that the longer they sit, the more the texture of the strawberries may change, and the toppings may lose their crunch. For best results, eat them up  ASAP!

Long-Term Storage:For longer storage, you can freeze the chocolate-covered strawberries. Place them on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze until the chocolate is firm. Once they’re solid, transfer them to an airtight container or a zip-top freezer bag. When you’re ready to enjoy them, thaw the strawberries in the refrigerator for a few hours.

It’s important to note that freezing may alter the texture of the strawberries slightly, so they might not be as crisp as when they’re freshly made. Additionally, the toppings may lose some of their vibrancy after freezing.

Regardless of the storage method, always consider the freshness of the strawberries and try to consume them as soon as possible for the best taste and texture.
