This sweet DIY Valentine wreath is not only adorable, it’s also easy to make and a great project for kids! With a few craft supplies and a dollar store puzzle, you’ve got a fun Valentine’s Day decoration to display!
I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. When I was a kid it was all about making creative boxes for class parties, by middle school it was about sending and receiving balloons and candy to my friends, and by high school there was the giddy anticipation of getting a surprise from a secret admirer. That never happened, mind you, but the possibilities were fun to think about!
As an adult I still love celebrating. I used to help out a local florist with flower deliveries on this hectic day and loved being able to surprise people with tokens of love from friends and family. One thing I haven’t ever done? Actually decorate for Valentine’s Day!
Enter this most adorable (and easy) Valentine’s Day craft, a cute “Love You to Pieces” DIY Valentine wreath made from a dollar store puzzle and some craft supplies. Easy AND cheap, the best kind of craft project! Here’s what you need to make one for yourself:

- piece of cardboard (inside of a cereal box should work great!)
- glue gun and glue sticks
- craft knife (and mat)

How to Make Your DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath
Separate your puzzle pieces in groups of 25. Paint 25 pieces white, 25 red, 25 hot pink, and 25 light pink. Set them aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Freezer paper makes a great, inexpensive cover for your work surface.
Download your heart wreath pattern here. Print it and cut it out. Then trace it onto your cardboard piece. Cutting on the outside with scissors and inside with a craft knife (on top of a mat) works great.
Use your hot glue gun to attach puzzle pieces around the cardboard base, covering the heart.
Apply a second layer of puzzle pieces over top of the first layer. Mix and match the colors and shapes.
Measure and cut a rectangle of white cardstock 1″ x 11″.Find the center and write the message “Love You To Pieces” in pencil and then in red marker. Cut a fishtail in each end of the cardstock with scissors.
Fold the ends into a “Z” pattern and attach to the heart wreath with the glue gun and glue sticks.
Measure and cut a twelve-inch length of red and white baker’s twine and glue to the back of the wreath to use as a hanger.
Tie a bow in a second twelve-inch length of baker’s twine and attach to wreath to finish.
That’s it! Hang your finished DIY Valentine wreath on the front door, on your mantle, or anywhere you want a fun Valentine’s Day reminder.
