Confession: for the longest time I was one of those girls that rarely washed their face at night. Awful, I know. I read things all the time about how horrible not removing makeup and daily grime can be for your skin. I always had pretty clear skin so I didn’t think I had anything to worry about. Once I turned 30 I decided that even though my skin looks pretty good now, it may not always if I don’t start taking care of it. I found a skincare line I liked (Arbonne RE9) that seemed both gentle on my sensitive skin as well as proactive (fine line reducing, anti-aging, collagen boosting, etc.). While I’ve been pleased with my skin, I was ready to take things to the next level, as in, a cleansing brush system.
I just didn’t want to spend $150-200 on a Clarisonic brush (though supposedly they’re great) and decided to do some research to find a brush that was a little more budget friendly, but would also give me the results I wanted. My criteria: around $50 or under, waterproof, good speed, and I wanted to be able to use my own cleanser. I read tons of reviews and decided on the Olay Professional ProX Advanced Cleansing System (between $25-35).
It’s got two speeds, I can use it in the shower, and I can use my own cleanser (though it did come with a sample of an exfoliating cleanser).
I’m really loving this brush. It hasn’t added any inconvenience to my routine. I simple wet my face, rub a small bit of cleanser all over and use the brush for about a minute total. I don’t want to overdo it on my skin so I typically do both sides of my face and my forehead for 15 seconds each and then spend about 15 second on my nose/chin area. Rinse with water, pat dry, and then I follow up with the rest of my routine. I did notice that after the first few days I had a few blemishes pop up, but I think it’s just because of the skin turnover and that quickly went away.
My skin seems both firmer and smoother, so I don’t think I could ask for much more!
