It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. Was that written about summertime? I think maybe so.
I love outdoor fun in the summer, especially over the holidays like we just celebrated. But that fun generally comes at the price of bug bites.
When the heat becomes bearable at dusk is when the bugs strike! Sometimes bug spray washes off or isn’t strong enough, so when you find yourself bitten, let me help you save your sanity with the Therapik.
My friend recommended it to me a few years ago, but I brushed it off, thinking it sounded a little too odd for my taste. But after being feasted upon by chiggers a few too many times, I decided the chance of relief was worth $12.95.
The contraption is very simple. Insert 9-volt battery. Place the red tip on the bite. Press blue button until heat becomes too intense (about 20 seconds). Voila!
The premise is that the venom of many insects will neutralize under heat. While it does get quite hot (read- adult supervision required!), the burn is very minor, and since it is focused on the actual bite, it does not leave any lasting pain.
It worked for me! After a couple of days of constant itching and using all my willpower to not scratch, Therapik worked instantly to give me relief. It will definitely be part of my outdoor fun arsenal from now on.
